Jellyfish Designs

It's not often, but when it happens - Wow!  I am very rarely impressed by commercial design. So often, it's sparse, functional to the point of it being painfully ugly, and lacking any character.  But, when a highly anticipated local restaurant posted a few of their interior pics - I was blown away and totally intrigued!  Our community has been watching the slow progress of the restaurant Jellyfish for quite some time now.  But, our patience has been rewarded ten fold. Gorgeous views of Centerport Harbor, amazing textiles, beautiful millwork, live jellyfish tanks, a nod to the original architecture of the building on the site from 1881, the list goes on and on as to how amazing this restoration has been. And, with an award winning chef from the show 'Hell's Kitchen' - it looks like they have everything they need to be a huge success and hopefully, a very long running one! P.S. Did I mention that it's kid friendly as well?  See their cute Joey the Jellyfish kids coasters and toy at the bottom!  I'm hooked! Congratulations and can't wait to enjoy that amazing view! Register at www.jellyfishrestaurantli.com for more info and check them out on Facebook as well. Enjoy!

Here is a recent write up from LongIslanderNews.com with the official inside scoop for the long awaited opening of Jellyfish in Centerport .
"Jellyfish Restaurant (441 E.main St., Centerport 631-262-0300 www.eatatjellyfish.com) is close to opening. Owner Ralph Colamussi is putting the finishing touches on a painstaking restoration of the restaurant on Mill Pond just east of his Thatched Cottage catering hall. The building, which has housed a restaurant for the better part of a century, was in its most recent incarnation Pier 441. It’ been restored with a Victorian flavor. Heading up the kitchen will be Heather West, a champion of the reality TV show Hell’s Kitchen who has put together a family-friendly, “roadside” menu with an emphasis on seafood. Yes, there will be jellyfish on the menu. “Crispy fried jellyfish,” said West. The primeval sea critters will figure prominently in the décor as well. Colamussi has installed several large fish tanks in the restaurant where jellyfish will swim safely. Expected to open in September, Jellyfish watchers can get a preview of the restaurant August 24 when it launches a dinner-and-a-show partnership with the John W. Engeman Theatre at Northport - dinner at Jellyfish followed by a performance at Engeman of the musical “Hairspray.” Call the theater at 631-261-2900 for details."
