Looking Forward to...

Summer is in full swing here on the Island!  July 4th was gorgeous weather and full of family fun. Now,  I'm looking forward to The Hampton Designer Showhouse, which opens July 26th.  Traditional Home always puts on a fabulous showhouse that benefits the Southampton Hospital this year and is always good to get the design juices flowing.  This year I'm really looking forward to the space designed by the gentleman from Madcap Cottage.  I follow these two and their fun lives and can't wait to see what they have in store for us here in the Hamptons. John Loecke and Jason Oliver Nixon of Madcap have a design studio in Highpoint, NC (which they call their 'design laboratory') and their mantra is "We live and breathe ‘whimsy,’ but our projects are sophisticated and perfectly catered to our clients’ sensibility and ‘brand.’ They are also spectacularly livable.” Ok, who wouldn't love to work with these guys?! Cant wait! Now, whether or not to attend the Gala Preview Party? Hmmm...always a hot, humid evening, but fun to meet and mingle.  Enjoy!

Bucket List To Do

Visiting Edith Wharton's home in the Berkshires of Lenox, MA has long been on my bucket list.  As a lover of literature and design, The Mount is the perfect place for me.  Until I get there, I will enjoy this tantalizing book written by Richard Guy Wilson, Commonwealth Professor of Architectural History at the University of Virginia.  Wilson, along with photographer John Arthur, "does a masterful job of showing how from 1902 until 1911 Wharton lived, wrote, and entertained a sparkling roster of visitors at The Mount. See Rebecca Christian's piece about the new title at Traditional Home.  Wharton wrote not only the novellas that we've come to love, but also spent a great deal of time writing about decorating, travel, and gardening -- my kind of woman!  Wilson's book release date is September 4th and can be pre-ordered here.  Enjoy!
