world's best pool

As we sit here on the north shore of Long Island with several inches of ice and many feet of snow covering everything within sight, I couldn't help but write about this amazing pool in East Hampton.  Architectural Digest included it as one of the world’s most "extraordinary collection of striking swimming pools" in their August 2010 article titled "Pools Around the World."  The owner, an avid gardener, used the old garden wall as a backdrop for plantings to enhance the Palladian style property designed by Alexander Gorlin.  Hidden carefully behind the pool, up on the hill, is the guest house that Gorlin designed for the owners.  I've included a few extra striking pools that AD found around the world.  Enjoy!

The Poolhouse in My Dreams

On this hot and muggy Long Island day, I can picture myself lounging by this poolhouse with my children splashing and playing, and better yet, making southsides with my girlfriends and having our own fun. I love this classic Hamptons shingle-style design by Neff Architecture in NYC. Classic, timeless, and just plain gorgeous!
