Looking Forward to...

Summer is in full swing here on the Island!  July 4th was gorgeous weather and full of family fun. Now,  I'm looking forward to The Hampton Designer Showhouse, which opens July 26th.  Traditional Home always puts on a fabulous showhouse that benefits the Southampton Hospital this year and is always good to get the design juices flowing.  This year I'm really looking forward to the space designed by the gentleman from Madcap Cottage.  I follow these two and their fun lives and can't wait to see what they have in store for us here in the Hamptons. John Loecke and Jason Oliver Nixon of Madcap have a design studio in Highpoint, NC (which they call their 'design laboratory') and their mantra is "We live and breathe ‘whimsy,’ but our projects are sophisticated and perfectly catered to our clients’ sensibility and ‘brand.’ They are also spectacularly livable.” Ok, who wouldn't love to work with these guys?! Cant wait! Now, whether or not to attend the Gala Preview Party? Hmmm...always a hot, humid evening, but fun to meet and mingle.  Enjoy!

Any Decorator Show Houses Out There?

Mansions and Millionaires®, where for art thou? Can I really wait until April for the 38th Annual Kips Bay Decorator Show House in New York City? I've tried finding anything local to fill my need to visit another show house in these dreary, cold days, but alas, I might simply have to wait for what is "widely considered the premier Decorator Show House featuring world renowned Interior Designers & Attended by over 15,000 guests annually during a four-week run." Well, I could always attend the February, Kips Bay 'Pre - Renovation Celebration' with cocktails & hors d'oeuvres. And, don't forget to put in your books the October 2010, Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club Manhattan Designer House Tour. Which is, "a self-guided tour of the private residences of Kips Bay designers and their clients showcasing some of their best and most admired work." Oh what fun! Kips Bay, Kips Bay, rah, rah, rah! Alright, stifle that laugh there girlie!
