Homes of Distinction Tour 2015

Spring is in the air and showhouses, house tours, and other beautiful events abound! One that is near and dear to my heart this year is the Homes of Distinction house tour that benefits the children of 9/11 through a charity called Tuesday's Children.  The tour is a one day event that invites you to view five beautiful homes in Manhasset and East Hills here on Long Island, and ends the day with a wonderful 'Meet the Creators' cocktail party.  The event is being chaired by Barbara Dixon, founding Editor-In-chief of ELLE Décor and features truly talented architects, builders, designers, artists, and more.  Their invitation for the event says it all:  You are invited to be inspired...  Hope to see you there next Saturday, April 25th! Here is a tiny, little, sneak peak of some of the fabulous spaces -- there is so much more to see and enjoy. Purchase tickets for this event here: http://www.dbaofli.org/content/events/homes_of_distinction_tour_april_2015.   Enjoy!

Tuesday's Children provides direct services and continuous outreach to approximately 10,000 individuals, including bereaved families and individuals, families of first responders, veterans of post-9/11 military operations, and teenagers from around the world impacted by a traumatic loss due to terrorism.  http://www.tuesdayschildren.org/

Beautiful Spaces for a Beautiful Purpose.
'Built to Perfection' - Manhasset. Built from the ground up, this Georgian-style home overlooking the Manhasset Bay was a collaboration between Tom Fox of Fox Diehl Architects and McNulty Development Corp.  Key to their approach was to construct a home that while respecting the heritage of the village also offered a contemporary layout with every modern convenience.  Photo Fox Diehl Architects

'The Art of Entertaining' - Manhasset.  Kitchen designed by John Starck of Showcase Kitchens - Calacatta Gold marble backsplash and countertops with custom-crafted hood and cabinets.  Decorative grey and white valences, stools and crystal and wrought iron pendant lighting are by Eileen Kathryn Boyd Interiors.  Photo Ric Marder Imagery

'Cosmopolitan Chic' – East Hills.  Designed by Lori Fleishhacker with TJ Costello of Hierarchy Architects, this family room was totally renovated and redecorated.  Open on 2 sides to the out of doors, sunlight drenches the space.  Custom-milled angled ceiling mimics the door style in the adjoining kitchen (not shown).  Blue and gray make up the color scheme of this new family room/kitchen renovation with a patchwork hide rug, gray fireplace 10” x 24” leather tiles and polished nickel accents.  Special detail was given to the wood work on ceiling along with the all the moldings throughout the house.  Holly Hunt end table, custom coffee table, Arteriors floor lamp.  Photo Keith Scott Morton Photography
'Heavenly Garden Oasis' – Manhasset. The client’s request for an outdoor entertaining destination is exactly what contractor, Todd Mitchell of Mitco Associates and Sivilli Landscape Corp delivered. Outdoor kitchen complete with blue stone countertop under an inline heaters.  Landscaping includes netted basketball court and fire pit, augmented by natural plantings.  Photo courtesy Sivilli Landscape Corp.

'Where Elegance Meets Whimsy' – This cream-colored kitchen is perfectly suited for the young family that wanted tradition design, yet easy to live with.  Sub Zero and Wolf appliances, granite countertop, elegant corbel and mantle carvings.  Interior design by Elle Baker Interiors and kitchen by Showcase Kitchens.  Photo courtesy Ric Marder Imagery
